Stevie Wonder and Common
Last night, at the House of Blues in Los Angeles Common gave his fans an experience of a lifetime: having the legendary Stevie Wonder perform with him. As Stevie Wonder sings a rendition about love, Common spits an elicit freestyle. Stevie Wonder sang "this is love" repeatedly making you kind of think about the relationship Hip Hop plays with other genres of music. Common profoundly says, "This is what we do on a better day... Love is what me and Steve know" and at the end of the performance both Stevie Wonder and Common give each other an embracing hug.

Earlier today the media received news of Jay Z to perform at the historical Carnegie Hall in February 2012. Jay Z announced this during the New York City press conference for the Shawn Carter Foundation. In the beginning of the conference, Jay Z says "Let me introduce to the real stars; the reason that we are doing this". This legendary performance that many will witness in two months will be to benefit the future of music: educators, tastemakers and entrepreneurs. Watch the press conference below via Rap Radar:

Fly
"Fly" by Nicki Minaj is not a recent video, but it was only right to feature the video in the midst of the news of the production of the Nicki Minaj Barbie Doll. Watch this video as Nicki Minaj lets the music world know she doesn't care how you box her in, because she came to conquer and thrive. Notice at the end of the video how she beats the fighters that come her way - if that's not symbolic to her disrupting the male dominated world of Hip Hop, then I don't know what is.

Care
Kid rock releases his new single "Care" from his newest album, Born Free. In this video, Kid Rock, along with T.I. and Angaleena Presley, portrays the constant struggle that impacts the poor communities of the United States; communities that both Kid Rock and T.I. were born into. Kid Rock comes from Detroit while T.I. hails from Atlanta. Detroit and Atlanta have both been influential cities in the Hip Hop community; cities that showed how artists rose from nothing to reaching high accolades based on the stories they've told. Watch Kid Rock's new video for his cross-cultural song "Care" and let us know what you think.

Blue Sky
Hip Hop rapper and activist, Common, keeps giving the world these amazing songs over and over, time and time again. Common's new single Blue Sky from his upcoming album, The Dreamer, The Believer, is just another great hit telling our generation to follow their dreams and that those who have made it worked hard and struggled to be where they are. Watch his official video here and catch him talking with Rap-Up TV about the upcoming album that captures the essence of soul of Hip Hop.

"We Found Love" Goes Viral
About 2 weeks ago, Rihanna releases a new video for her song "We Found Love", which is off her sixth album Talk That Talk, soon to be released. Her video for "We Found Love" gives way to superb graphic images and an analytical concept of a love that can be just too deep. The video went viral with so many loving the imagery of a drug & alcoholic romance, while some are concerned of the images Rihanna is setting forth for her younger demographic. As Beyond the Lyrics goal is to reach and teach, we celebrate her video that is an outlet that can teach our young Hip Hop generation about a dangerous love.

J. Cole's "Lost Ones" Video
J. Cole consciously raps about what can be a life-changing issue. In his song, he makes it clear that he never wanted to be like his absentee father, but he's faced with a troubling decision as he finds his girlfriend is pregnant. Needless to say, its a simple yet compelling visual of the pain behind an abortion

"This is dedicated to the Lost Ones"...
